Fees and Payment

Your Investment

Leap Counseling and Consultation does not accept insurance as an in-network provider. I made this decision because accepting insurance often comes at the expense of clinical care and best ethical practices. Since I am a specialist, my clients are sometimes able to get reimbursed using their out-of-network benefits with their insurance company.

Benefits of Private Pay

Confidentiality

With private pay, your information is truly confidential. There are no insurance companies rifling through your records. The details of your treatment are no else’s business but yours and your provider’s.

More Flexibility

Care decisions are between you and your therapist only. Without insurance dictating your care, I can be more flexible to actually meet your needs. Sessions can be longer, be fully virtual (no requirements for initial in-person sessions), or be held multiple times a week, for example.

A More Attentive Therapist

Clinicians who take insurance usually have to see more clients to get by. Insurance companies do not pay a clinician’s full rate. The clinician and insurance negotiate what insurance will actually pay, which might be only 50% of what is charged. Sometimes, therapists have to see more clients than is recommended, often leading to therapist burnout and more mistakes.

By not taking insurance, I am able to see fewer clients and put more of my energy and attention into each client I’m working with.

An Investment in You

Therapy is an investment in your long-term well-being. It’s an intentional commitment of time, energy, and money toward creating meaningful and lasting change. Making an investment in the right care now will pay off long after therapy ends.

At Leap Counseling and Consultation, my philosophy is to teach you to become your own therapist. I’m a clinician highly trained in OCD and anxiety disorders, and I stay current with the latest research so treatment is the best possible quality of care. With this high standard of care and my specialized expertise, clients are more likely to achieve their goals sooner and have longer lasting benefits than with a less skilled (or overworked) provider.

I aim to teach my clients the knowledge and skills to make real changes, support them through that change and, when they are ready, send them off to use those skills with confidence.

My Rate

$250
Standard 55-minute session

Most sessions are 55 minutes long. If a longer session is needed, the cost will be adjusted proportionally at a rate of $250 per hour. For example, the cost for an 85-minute session is $375.

Take Advantage of Out-of-Network Benefits

I am considered an out-of-network provider. I provide superbills upon request that the client can submit to their insurance provider to request reimbursement. Here’s how to take advantage of out-of-network benefits.

Contact insurance

1.

Ask your insurance provider if you have out-of-network (OON) benefits for behavioral health services.

Request superbill

2.

Request a superbill from me. They will be available in the patient portal.

Submit your claim

3.

File a claim with your insurance provider by submitting the superbill. Clients with OON benefits often are able to get 50-80% of the cost reimbursed by insurance.

See this guide for tips on advocating for reimbursement

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Take a look at the FAQ or reach out anytime. If you’re feeling ready, go ahead and contact me to get started.

  • I accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and FSA/HSA account cards.

  • Payments are due at time of service.

  • If you need to cancel a session, you are welcome to reschedule it within the same business week or within two business days of the originally scheduled appointment. Reschedules can be requested before or after the original session time and are subject to availability.

If we are unable to find a mutually workable time within this window, or if a reschedule is not requested in advance, this will be considered a cancellation or no-show. Each client may cancel up to two sessions per year with no charge, for any reason. Beyond that, for any absences (cancellations or no-shows) that are not able to be rescheduled within the time window, the full session fee will apply. This is necessary because I make a time commitment to you that is held exclusively for you. I arrange my personal schedule around appointments and my livelihood is dependent on providing these services.
